Il Nero di Troia

Nero di Troia The red wine of Troia is noted for its organoleptic qualities and for its health benefits. It has been found that this wine is rich in a substance recently discovered called ‘reservatrolo’ which optimizes blood circulation and cleans the arteries, both of which are anti cancer functions. The ‘polifenolic’ components of the wine (the pigments and tannins) have anti-oxidizing abilities and are very useful for the body. After meals free radicals are often produced during the digestion process, ‘Nero di Troia’ has anti-oxidizing qualities and is exactly the substance we want in order to stop the free radicals from doing harm to the body.
After a delicious meal we can slowly sip a glass of Troia, which is a joy for the palate as well as for the digestive system. However we must not forget that over indulgence is not necessary and that the best things in life are enjoyed in moderation.

Historic and geographical perspective

Canne is situated at the top of a hill 65 meters above sea level. It is about 10 km from this and is part of a wonderful tip of the Apulia, Murge uplands where our fields are. The continuous hills form a jagged outline that overlooks the Ofanto River. The town Canne, which was surrounded by a wall, became the grain and trading centre of Canosa, it was also a strategic place for commercial sea trading with Bardulos, Today known as Barletta, where the Romans had one of their warehouses. Canne della battaglia was named after the battle between the Romans and the Carthaginians today there is still a great deal of archaeological evidence of the battle. Ruins of an Apulian village on the site where there is what could have been a funeral monument and the ruins of a necropolis, it stands 3 meters high. Canne is well known around the world for the battle of 216AC between the two great powers of the past, the Romans and the Carthaginians. The long battle was fought for the control over the Mediterranean sea. Hannibal led the Carthaginian Army to victory. Rome was defeated but this did not stop Rome’s aspirations that in a few years would lead to the rise of Rome over the western world.
